Combined Rwanda & Uganda Gorrilla Safari

Day 1: Kigali
Upon arrival at Kanombe Airport in Rwanda you will be met and assisted to Kigali.

Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Des Mille Collines or Chez Lando or similar

Day 2: Kigali – Volcanos National Park
After breakfast proceed to a city tour of Kigali and the genocide memorial sites with your guides. After lunch break drive north to Kinigi via Ruhengeri through the beautiful famous hillsides of Rwanda.

Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Nest Lodge / Kinigi Guest House or similar

Day 3: Volcanos National Park
Rise up early morning and proceed into the Gorilla sanctuary in this spectacularrainforest that offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape criss-crossed by numerous animal trails.

The sanctuary enjoys an animal record that include the endangered mountain gorilla, rare golden monkey and a variety of other primates and the most fascinating are the gorillas.

The time you will take vary according to the movements of these marvelous primates and this also varies the terrain you will encounter. This is a thrilling experience spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure.

Day 4: Volcano’s National Park (Rwanda) – Kisoro (Uganda)
You will emabrk on an arly morning visit to track the Golden Monkeys in Volcanos National Park. In the afternoon drive to Uganda

Dinner and overnight at Nkuringo Safari Lodge / Kisoro Traveler’s Rest Hotel

Day 5: Kisoro – Nkuringo (BWINDI FOREST)
Today you will depart to Bwindi. This is a magnificent green swathe of dense rainforest considered one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and a recently proclaimed World Heritage Site.

You will begin your gorilla trek early in the morning, and set off into the tangled and mist-shrouded forests with experienced guides and trackers who have the experience of locating the gorillas by finding the nest the family had used the previous night which is a nice experience to trackers.

After an hour with the gorillas head back to the base camp for a late lunch and a leisury afternoon.

Dinner and overnight at Nkuringo Safari Lodge / Kisoro Traveler’s Rest Hotel

Day 6: Kisoro – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park with game drive en route. You may be rewarded with views of lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, hyena and a variety of antelope species in the park.

Overnight Mweya Safari Lodge / Mweya Hostel

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth Park
This day will be spent in the Queen Elizabeth National Park which has diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters.

It is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife and it is spectacular views of the massive Rwenzoris at the backdrop providing excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi,bush buck among other wildlife.

You will enjoy the unique 2 hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward in the afternoon passing through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth Park - Kampala
Morning game drive and proceed to Kampala with lunch en route with a stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers en route where you will able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted .You will also stop at the equator for photographs arriving in Kampala in the early evening.

Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge / Fairway Hotel

Day 9: Kampala City Tour –Depart

Take a guided tour of Kampala that will point out the highlights including Kasubi Tombs, Uganda Museum, Parliamentary Buildings, Nommo Gallery, National Theater Craft Market, Bahai Temple, Namirembe Cathedral, Namugongo Martyr's Shrine and other areas of religious, political and cultural interest.

Afternoon transfer to Entebbe International Airport from where you will catch up with your home bound flight.

  10. Gorilla trekking is a strenuous activity and one should be physically fit to enjoy this tour.
  11. Minimum tracking age is 15 years.
  12. Anyone with signs of communicable diseases will NOT be allowed to track.
  13. While possession of a gorilla permit is a guarantee of trekking and sighting the gorillas, the quality of the gorilla trekking cannot be guaranteed.
  14. Maximum time allowed with the gorillas will NOT exceed ONE hour.

We strongly recommend the following:

  1. Rain poncho (lightweight)
  2. Long-sleeved shirt
  3. Waterproof trousers
  4. Sturdy hiking boots
  5. Leather gardening -type gloves
  6. Sunscreen,
  7. Insect repellent and any necessary medications must be brought by you either from your home town or Kampala.
  8. Still Cameras and Camcorders are allowed, but bring batteries and film from your home town or Kampala.
